Picasso, Rembrandt Artworks Feared Lost in Fire

A tragic fire at Seattle's Davidson Galleries last week has raised concerns over potential loss and damage to invaluable art pieces. Artworks include pieces from Picasso, Rembrandt, Goya, and many more. The Art Gallery is still assessing the extent of the damage.

The Seattle Fire Department reported that the fire likely started from a warming fire in an alley, unintentionally spreading to the gallery. Despite being deemed accidental, the fire, which started at 6:39 a.m., caused significant destruction before firefighters contained it by 8 a.m., thankfully without any injuries.

Firefighters and volunteers swiftly acted to rescue as much art as possible during the blaze.

The fire's timing was particularly unfortunate as the gallery was in the midst of relocating, with many artworks laid out on the floor. Now, the new location is serving as a restoration site for the salvaged pieces.

The gallery's reopening, initially slated for February in the new space, is now postponed as the team focuses on repairing the damage.
